The Art of Perfuming: Extract, Sillage, and Application Techniques

If you want to enjoy your perfume all day long, and share it with those very close to you, wear it in the form of extract, and above all, from the morning onwards.

This elixir will unite with your skin in a mysterious alchemy, and exhale a fragrance that will belong only to you because “it is not the perfume that perfumes the woman, but the woman who perfumes her perfume”.

The Extract: The Haute Couture of Perfume

If one were to consider perfume as a painting, the extract would be the original and the derivative waters, lithographs. The perfume is to Eau de Toilette what Haute Couture is to Ready-to-Wear, a work of art in its own right. Moreover, in terms of creation, a perfumer often imagines the perfume in its extract version.

One should therefore not deprive oneself of it, nor reserve it for the evening because, used well, it is never too strong. If you have been gifted a large bottle, the ideal is to decant it into a spray bottle. Otherwise, apply the perfume with the gesture, so classic and so glamorous, of the stopper directly on the skin.

The Triangle Technique for Sillage

For your sillage to be perfect, when you are dressed, spray the Eau de Parfum or Eau de Toilette in the following way: the ideal is to trace a large triangle, from your hair (it does not damage hair) to the inside of your jacket or coat, down to your hem. This time, you are perfumed for the whole day.

You can also spray a cloud of perfume in front of you and step into this cloud a few seconds later; this will be the assurance of having no damage on your clothes or jewelry. Do not forget all the complementary products which will only support and help with better tenacity and better diffusion of your fragrance. And what a delight to have every centimeter of skin perfumed.

The Lingerie Trick

To perfect your sillage: include a few drops of Eau de Toilette in the rinsing water of your lingerie. Or even, supreme refinement: wash your beautiful lingerie with the shower gel.

In Summary

The extract first thing in the morning, on the skin at pulse points, “where one wants to be kissed”. An extract is never aggressive, it is even quite the opposite; it is very intimate (for oneself and close ones) while being more tenacious. It will be the assurance of leaving a trace in the memory of others.

And immediately after, spray the Eau de Toilette or Eau de Parfum on hair and clothes (for those who follow you). It is the most extroverted product!
